Can you really make it out of foam?
There are many items that are perfectly suited to being made from Styrofoam or polystyrene. Our portfolio presents a snapshot of what we have created in the past, and hopefully give you some inspiration.
Are there different types of polystyrene/Styrofoam?
People are usually familiar with white polystyrene, found in packaging of electrical goods. This is expanded polystyrene, known as EPS. Another type is extruded polystyrene, known as XPS. It is often coloured and has a closed cell structure. Styrofoam is a trademark of Dow Chemical Company, but the word Styrofoam is often used as a general term for expanded polystyrene foam (EPS).
What size can you make it?
There is virtually no size limit on the items we create. We cut from solid blocks of foam that are 2.5m x 1.2m x 1.2m (8’2 x 4′ x 4′), but a large item can be made from a number of parts.
Can I use my own artwork?
Yes, if you can supply your artwork in a vector format (usually pdf, eps, ai, dwg or dxf), we can create a visual for you to approve. If, however, you don’t have artwork available, our in-house design team can work with you to generate a design.
What is the turnaround time?
The size and complexity of the project ultimately determines the delivery date. For most items, we aim to deliver in 5 – 7 working days from order confirmation. However, if you are faced with a tighter deadline, we do our best to meet it.
How is it delivered?
The items we create are cut from blocks of polystyrene foam. Usually the outer part of the block acts as packaging during shipping or storage. We use post, courier services, parcel distribution and haulage companies to deliver the completed piece to you.
How much will it cost?
Our items are all individually priced as each project is unique. If you are working to a budget, we can advise on how best to use it, taking into account the size and complexity of the project, the quantity required, and the coatings and finishes, the time frame available, and if a design needs to be created, etc. Contact us directly for a quote.
How do I pay for it?
We accept payment by electronic transfer and credit cards via Paypal and cheque.
A credit account can be set up in certain circumstances.
Can I recycle it?
It is not well known that EPS is fully recyclable and has received an A+ rating from the UK Building Research Establishment (BRE) for its extremely low environmental impact. All of our manufacturing waste is sent back to our suppliers for reprocessing, but EPS is also widely accepted by waste management companies and recycling centres. If you need help sourcing a recycling solution, let us know.
